How to build it
A shooting board guides a plane on its side to true the end of a part dead square. How it works and how to set it is in the post A shooting board: square ends with a hand plane. This page has the sizes.
- Cut the parts from the cut list.
- Fix the platform onto the base, flush with its back edge. That leaves a lower runway 90 mm wide at the front, where the plane runs.
- Glue the hook batten under the base along its front edge. It hooks over the front of the bench and keeps the board from sliding.
- Screw the stop across the left end of the platform. Use one screw first as a pivot and a second through an oversized hole. Set it with a square, tighten it, and check it with the flip test from the post.
The print sheets are drawn at the scale shown beside each link. Print at 100%, without fitting to the page, and measure the 100 mm scale bar with a rule before you lay the drawing on wood.
